Here are the top 3 stories today in Anchorage:
- An Alaska doctor has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for illegally distributing narcotics to his patients. David Chisholm, aged 64, was prescribing highly addictive prescription drugs such as oxycodone, methadone, morphine, and fentanyl to people who did not necessarily need them. His overprescribing caused over five deaths. (Anchorage Daily News)
- This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Hillside ski trails in Anchorage. The ski loop at the start of the trail was cut by Service High School families and coaches way back in 1971. Since then it has expanded, and many people visit to exercise, race, and more! (Alaska Public Media News)
- Local hospitals are tightening visitor restrictions due to the COVID surge. This past Monday, Alaska Regional Hospital has instituted a mandate that limits the number of people a patient can have as visitors. In fact, visitors are no longer allowed for adult inpatients or for people in the emergency services department. (KTOO)
