- A man was shot to death late Saturday in a downtown Anchorage apartment. Officers were called to the Backpackers Annex, where they found a man with life-threatening injuries who eventually died at the scene. While the investigation is ongoing, detectives do believe this is an isolated incident and there is no public safety threat. (Anchorage Daily News)
- Anchorage Community Theatre’s 69th season opens with FRANKENSTEIN: The Radio Play on Halloween night. This chilling tale stays true to Mary Shelley’s gothic classic, but the twist in this production lies in the style of a 1940's radio play. Stefan Morin takes on the role of Victor Frankenstein and Scott Rhode plays the Creature in this retelling of the famous story. Listener discretion is advised as there are some disturbing moments.(Anchorage Press)
- Alaska Behavioral Health is one of 231 community mental health centers to receive funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as part of their COVID-19 response. The federal funding is designed to increase capacity and access to outpatient care to meet this increasing need for behavioral healthcare services. It also requires Alaska Behavioral Health to assess whether all Alaskans across all demographics have equal access to/outcomes in care, as well as to address disparities if they do exist.
