🌱 New Drive-Thru COVID Testing + Alaska Constitution Violation

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Anchorage.

Happy Thursday, Anchorage! Here's everything you need to know today in town.

First, today's weather:

A little afternoon snow. High: 36 Low: 34.

Here are the top 3 stories in Anchorage today:

  1. Thankfully for the citizens of Anchorage, a new drive-thru COVID-19 testing site has just opened in Midtown Anchorage. Appointments are not required and the tests are free and open to the public. This new site is being managed by Visit Healthcare and being funded by Southcentral Foundation. It is open six days a week. For full details on its location and for more information on testing sites nearby, please read the full article. (Anchorage Daily News)
  2. The Alaska Redistricting Board was discovered to have violated the state constitution after a judge uncovered faults in how they drew the Senate districts. The Senate districts for Eagle River and East Anchorage and for the Southeast Alaska House district were incorrect. Anchorage Superior Court Judge Thomas Matthews stated that the board must revisit how it arrived at the maps. According to reports, the board allegedly violated the state Open Meetings Act by holding public discussions in private. (Alaska Public Media News)
  3. Alli Harvey is an outdoor columnist for the Anchorage Daily News. Harvey grew up on the East Coast for most of her childhood. However, when she first learned about the Aurora she fell in love with Alaska. Harvey first visited the state when she was a teenager. Eventually, she was able to move there and start a career in journalism. Additionally, Harvey is also a professional landscape artist. Soon, she is going to begin her next adventure of traveling and painting in her new mobile art studio and gallery. To learn more about her story, please check out the full article!
