- The Anchorage Chamber Of Commerce is joining the U.S. Small Business Administration in celebrating and supporting Black-owned small businesses! According to Census data, the number of Black-owned firms and businesses is rising at a steady rate. In light of this celebration, the Small Business Association would like to remind everyone that they have many resources to help small businesses rebuild and revitalize their communities. - Within the next two weeks, an Anchorage judge will decide whether or not to keep a $400 million scholarship trust in the state's fund for higher education. This fund was started all the way back in 2012. However, during Governor Mike Dunleavy’s administration, the government started sweeping the money into the Constitutional Budget Reserve, a state savings account. Since then, four students have sued to maintain the Alaska Higher Education Investment Fund. (Alaska Public Media News)
- Anchorage Police Chief Michael Kerle has gone on KTUU to talk about his new role as chief of police. Many people are wondering what Kerle will do to address the issues impacting the community today. He stated in the interview that his main priority moving forward is to "establish trust throughout the entire community." Kerle will use his three pillars of enforcement, engagement, and encouragement to build up the community's trust. (Alaska's News Source)
