Dear UAA Anchorage Campus Community,

It’s hard to believe August is just a few weeks away. I’m looking forward to Monday,
Aug. 2, when the Anchorage campus opens to all students, faculty and staff. As we
transition back to face-to-face courses, work and activities, I want to make you aware
of resources available to help answer your questions about what returning to campus
safely means for this fall. After consulting with governance and stakeholder groups,
our onsite operations planning team, led by Bill Jacob, received new questions from
students, faculty and staff, and updated our FAQ online.

You can learn more about our campus operations on the UAA COVID-19 information site. Faculty members can find guidance to frequently asked questions about teaching fall
courses on the Academic Continuity website. We will continue to update these sites and encourage you to submit questions to
Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management.

Please know UAA leadership is committed to your health and safety. We continue to
follow CDC guidance, as well as state and municipal health officials, regarding COVID-19
protocols. We urge you to get a COVID-19 vaccination if you have not already done
so. Remember, fully vaccinated students, faculty and staff are not required to wear
masks in UAA facilities.

COVID-19 vaccines are available weekdays by appointment at the Student Health and Counseling Center for UAA students, faculty and staff. Call 907-786-4050 to schedule. You can also
find vaccine locations near you on the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services website.

As we resume in-person operations, let’s be patient with one another. We’ve made it
this far! We’ll make it through this transition too.

I look forward to seeing you on campus in August.

Sincerely,Sean Parnell, UAA Chancellor
