A black bear with cubs has been spotted on and around the Anchorage campus, specifically
in the area near the Engineering & Industry Building. Although foot traffic on campus
is minimal, this is a good time to remind everyone to be aware of surroundings and
take safety precautions when venturing outside. With temperatures rising and the number
of people on campus relatively low, there will likely be an increased wildlife presence
in the area. Consult the following Alaska Department of Fish and Game resources for more information about bear, moose and general wildlife safety:

To report a non-emergency situation, please contact the University Police Department
at 907-786-1120. In case of emergency, call 911.
