I am pleased to share that Dr. André Rosay has accepted the position of interim dean of the UAA College of Health (COH). He
will assume the role Aug. 1 following Dean Jeff Jessee’s retirement.

André Rosay joined UAA as an assistant professor of justice in June 2002. He was promoted
to associate professor and granted tenure in 2007 and later promoted to professor
in 2016. He previously served as director of the Justice Center and is now the associate

Rosay's areas of expertise include juvenile justice and gender-based violence. He
taught undergraduate and graduate courses on these topics and enjoyed teaching the
Introduction to Justice course where he had the opportunity to meet and work with
new students. He also taught specialized courses on advanced data analysis at the
University of Michigan.

Rosay is a prolific researcher with extensive experience implementing local, state,
tribal and national programs of research to improve health, safety and wellbeing.
He was the principal investigator for the inaugural Alaska Victimization Survey. He
worked closely with Chancellor Sean Parnell’s administration during his time as governor
on the Choose Respect initiative to end the epidemic of domestic violence, sexual assault and child sexual abuse.

He has tremendous experience working with diverse professionals to conduct community-based
participatory research that influences policy and practice. Throughout his career,
he has enjoyed building partnerships with clinical and behavioral health service providers
to promote health and wellbeing.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Rosay into his new role. We will launch the COH dean
search in the fall with the goal of hiring a dean whose duties will begin in early
2022. Sincerely,Denise Runge UAA Provost
