University Of Alaska Anchorage: Evacuation Drills Scheduled For Week Of Sept. 13

See the latest announcement from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

September 9, 2021

UAA’s Office of Emergency Management will be coordinating evacuation drills in the
academic and office buildings on the Anchorage campus. When the alarm sounds, policy
requires that all occupants leave the building using the nearest exit. Drill volunteers
will be on site at many buildings, directing people to the Emergency Assembly Area
outside and distributing educational hand-outs. Occupants in wheelchairs should evacuate
to the stairwell of the floor they’re on when an alarm sounds, and have someone tell
uniformed responders of their location. Drills will help meet federal requirements
for testing our emergency plans, will help identify alarm equipment that needs repair,
and helps UAA building users think about their nearest exit and Assembly Areas. Check
with your Building Manager if you don’t know where your Emergency Assembly Area is.
Questions or concerns can be directed to emergencymanager@alaska.edu.
