University Of Alaska Anchorage: It's Spring, Seawolves! A Message From Interim Chancellor Schultz

Dear UAA Community,

The change of seasons has always been one of the many highlights about living in Alaska,
and I look forward to the return of spring to our campuses.

This has been anything but a typical year, and I’m proud of the many ways our faculty,
staff and students have shown resilience and perseverance throughout it all. Congratulations
to the more than 1,000 students who are on track to graduate this May. You are in
the home stretch.

A special thank you to our outstanding faculty and staff. You have shown amazing dedication
to fulfilling our mission this past year. It has been an honor to work alongside you
as your interim chancellor these last few months.

I know many of you may have questions about what fall might look like. We have posted
an FAQ about our planning for fall on the UAA COVID-19 information website. For faculty in particular, there are additional questions specific to your role
posted on the Academic Continuity website. We are taking steps over the summer to begin some face-to-face activities and hope
to resume normal campus activities this fall.

Although not a condition of employment or of student eligibility, I encourage everyone
to get the vaccine. The Student Health and Counseling Center will be offering more vaccines by appointment in April for employees and students. Remember, every person who is
vaccinated moves us closer to herd immunity, which gives me great hope.

Stay strong, Seawolves, and keep going. We are on the right track!
