Although much of their competitive schedule was thwarted by the pandemic, University
of Alaska Anchorage student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom in 2020-21,
posting a 3.36 overall grade point average for the academic year.

Of UAA's 13 teams, 11 produced an average GPA of 3.0 or better, according to statistics
from UAA associate athletic director for compliance and academics Dede Allen. Women's
skiing posted a 3.81 team GPA to edge men's skiing (3.75) for top honors, followed
by gymnastics (3.64), hockey (3.63), men's track & field (3.36) and men's basketball
(3.34).
In spring 2021, the Seawolves had 35 student-athletes achieve 4.0 GPAs, and 113 earned
above a 3.0. Of the 4.0's, the hockey team produced eight, while the gymnastics and
women's skiing teams had six apiece.

"The academic outcome produced by our student-athletes during this crazy, unpredictable
year represents the winning mindset of our Seawolves, as well as our coaches and academic
staff," said UAA athletic director Greg Myford. "As much disappointment that came
with not competing for most of our teams this year, their classroom performance proves
we will achieve no matter the circumstances."
