• Alaska Air National Guard rescues occupants of plane that crashed near Seward (peninsulaclarion.com) — Four people aboard a small plane that crashed on a sandbar about 60 miles southeast of Seward were safely rescued by Alaska Air National Guard crews. Guided by an emergency beacon and satellite messages, pararescuemen treated one person's back injury before flying everyone to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. The Cessna flipped but was otherwise largely intact.
