Arizona Coronavirus: 3 News Cases Reported By Health Department

An additional three more diagnosed cases of the new coronavirus were reported in Arizona on Wednesday morning.

ACROSS ARIZONA — The Arizona Department of Health on Wednesday reported three additional "presumptive" positive diagnosed cases of the new coronavirus in Arizona, which raises the state total to nine.

Health officials did not immediately release any details surrounding the new cases, but did to refer to at least one as "travel-related."

As of Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., there have been 100 people tested in Arizona, with two confirmed positives and seven presumptive positives. Additionally, there are 32 tests still pending in the state and 59 tests have come back negative.

The new information on Wednesday comes in the wake of first positive case of the coronavirus announced in Pima County on Tuesday.

State health officials said the infected individual in Pima County is a resident of unincorporated Pima County and recently returned from travel in an area with community spread of the virus. Additionally, the individual isn't severely ill and is currently recovering at home in isolation.

The Arizona Department Of Health says to do the following to prevent the coronavirus:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
