AZ Coronavirus Update, May 12: 356 New Cases, 20 New Deaths
The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 356 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number to 11,736 as of Tuesday.
ACROSS ARIZONA—The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 356 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number to 11,736 as of Tuesday. There were also 20 additional deaths, bringing that total number to 562.
To date, state health officials said 159,082 people have been tested for the conoravirus. Of that number, 6.5 percent have tested positive.

- Maricopa County: 6,219 cases, 259 deaths
- Pima County: 1,623 cases, 136 deaths
- Navajo County: 1,017 cases, 41 deaths
- Apache County: 744 cases, 11 deaths
- Coconino County: 720 cases, 58 deaths
- Pinal County: 636 cases, 20 deaths
- Mohave County: 207 cases, 26 deaths
- Yuma County: 207 cases, 3 deaths
- Yavapai County: 206 cases, 4 deaths
- Santa Cruz County: 51 cases, 0 deaths
- Cochise County: 43 cases, 0 deaths
- La Paz County: 22 cases, 0 deaths
- Graham County: 20 cases, 0 deaths
- Gila County: 19 cases, 0 deaths
- Greenlee County: 2 cases, 0 deaths
According to the latest data, 1,564 people are currently hospitalized for COVID-19. Maricopa County has the number of hospitalizations, with 859 people receiving medical care for the virus.
Most of the people who are currently hospital for COVID-19 are 65 years of age and older, the latest numbers show. Of the hospitalizations, 53 percent are male and 47 percent are female. When broken down by race, 39 percent of the current hospitalizations are white, 26 percent are Hispanic, 10 percent are Native American and 5 percent are black.
As of Monday, 533 ventilators were in use for hospital patients receiving treatment for COVID-19. The latest figures also show that 1,212 ventilators are currently available at Arizona hospitals.
