AZ Coronavirus Update, May 14: 498 New Cases, 31 New Deaths
The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 498 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number 12,674 as of Thursday.
ACROSS ARIZONA—The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 498 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number to 12,674 as of Thursday. There were also 31 additional deaths, bringing that total number to 624.
To date, state health officials said 175,455 people have been tested for the conoravirus. Of that number, 6.3 percent have tested positive.

- Maricopa County: 6,599 cases, 292 deaths
- Pima County: 1,696 cases, 152 deaths
- Navajo County: 1,150 cases, 43 deaths
- Apache County: 859 cases, 12 deaths
- Coconino County: 795 cases, 59 deaths
- Pinal County: 650 cases, 28 deaths
- Mohave County: 220 cases, 26 deaths
- Yuma County: 285 cases, 4 deaths
- Yavapai County: 243 cases, 4 deaths
- Santa Cruz County: 62 cases, 0 deaths
- Cochise County: 44 cases, 0 deaths
- La Paz County: 27 cases, 0 deaths
- Graham County: 21 cases, 0 deaths
- Gila County: 21 cases, 0 deaths
- Greenlee County: 2 cases, 0 deaths
According to the latest data, 1,636 people are currently hospitalized for COVID-19. Maricopa County has the number of hospitalizations, with 897 people receiving medical care for the virus.
Most of the people who are currently hospital for COVID-19 are 65 years of age and older, the latest numbers show. Of the hospitalizations, 53 percent are male and 47 percent are female. When broken down by race, 39 percent of the current hospitalizations are white, 26 percent are Hispanic, 11 percent are Native American and 5 percent are black.
As of Wednesday, 560 ventilators were in use for hospital patients receiving treatment for COVID-19. The latest figures also show that 1,215 ventilators are currently available at Arizona hospitals.
