Glendale Police Charge Mother With Smothering Infant
Amber Cherie Sagarnaga was arrested after her fiance returned home and discovered the child lifeless.

A mother from Glendale is under arrest, charged with smothering her five-month-old with a comforter, police said. Amber Sagarnaga was arrested on suspicion of second degree murder.
Police say the child had been crying and she placed the comforter on the the girl's face as she lay in a pack and play crib.
Her fiance came home and discovered the child, lifeless, and called 9-1-1. (Subscribe to local news alerts on Patch).

Police said that while the mother appeared to be "lacking emotion" while the dad was doing CPR when they arrived at the home near 67th and Glendale Avenues.
The child was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Officials say that she had been wearing a diaper that did not appear to have been changed for more than one day.
The infant had severe diaper rash.
