Arizona House Considers Banning Texting By Teen Drivers

Report says that a change in committee leadership means the once stalled bill might move forward.

A once-stalled bill that would ban texting by teen drivers may be getting a second chance at life. That's the word from Arizona Capitol Times, which reports that the House Rules Committee decided the bill is constitutional and can be considered by the full house.

While the bill had already been approved by the senate, former Rules chairman Phil Lovas had stopped the bill out of his concern that it could lead to even more restrictions.

The paper states that now that Lovas has left the house for a position in the Trump administration, House Speaker J.D. Mesnard has named himself chairman of the committee and pushed the bill forward.

The full house should debate the bill later this week.
