Lake Havasu Explosivee Device Deactivated

The Lake Havasu Police Department's bomb squad deactivated the device, which was found outside a home.

A suspicious package outside a home in Lake Havasu turned out to be an explosive device. The Lake Havasu Police Department's bomb squad was able to deactivate it.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office was called to the home on the 2100 block of East Mescalero Drive around 8 p.m. on Sunday.

They found a four-inch by six-inch package wrapped in red tape. There was a cylinder inside and what appeared to be crushed gravel. (Subscribe to local news alerts on Patch).

Nearly two dozen homes in the area were evacuated and the roads were closed.

The Lake Havasu Police Department's bobm squad arrived on the scene.

They were able make the device safe. People were allowed back to their homes around 11 p.m.

The situation remains under investigation.
