AZ Medical Providers To Gov. Ducey: Require Masks In Public

PHOENIX, AZ — Nearly 700 medical providers have signed a letter to Gov. Doug Ducey, urging him to make mask-wearing a requirement while in public. The letter comes the same day the Arizona Department of Health Services reported an additional 2,392 confirmed coronavirus cases in the state, a record high in a single day.

The letter says since the state has reopened, many people feel it's safe to resume normal life and not wear masks in public, ABC 15 reported.

“Please issue a state-wide mandate requiring universal masking in public for those 2 years old and above. There is sufficient, clear, scientific evidence that wearing masks is one way to decrease the spread of COVID-19 and thus would reduce both the wave of severely affected patients requiring ICU and ventilator resources as well as unnecessary deaths,” the letter reads.
