Mesa Woman Struck And Killed On University Drive
Woman may have stopped her car to attend to a dead cat.

A woman was struck and killed early Thursday morning when she stopped her car and got out on University Drive in Mesa. It happened just after 4 a.m.. She got out of her car and the woman was hit by a pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup stopped, called police and waited for them to arrive.
The woman, in her 40s, was transported to to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police believe that the woman may have to stopped because of a cat in the road. The cat turned out to be dead though it's not clear if the woman knew that.

Traffic was stopped for several hours while police investigated. The driver of the pickup showed no signs of impairment, according to police.
