β’ Border Wall Destroys 7,000-Year-Old Arizona Geoglyph (outsideonline.com) β A 7,000-year-old geoglyph in Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge near Ajo was badly damaged this spring during border wall construction, with about a third of the ancient fish carving destroyed. Archaeologists now say the site is the oldest known geoglyph in the Americas, and conservation advocates warn that ongoing wall projects could further threaten sacred Indigenous sites and public lands around Ajo and the wider Sonoran Desert.
