• Grand Canyon hotels to reopen after flash floods — in two months (sfchronicle.com) — If you're planning a stay near Grand Canyon Village, park officials now expect South Rim hotels to reopen around Thanksgiving, once a badly damaged water pipeline is repaired. After deadly August flash floods wrecked bridges and the main water line, crews are racing to restore pumping from Bright Angel Creek and are trucking in water daily while asking visitors to conserve.
