Because Maricopa County is the nation's hardest‑hit region and standard antibiotics don't treat this fungal infection, local residents with stubborn pneumonia symptoms should ask specifically about Valley fever testing. Earlier diagnosis can shorten hospital stays and avoid unnecessary treatments.
