Here are the top stories today in Phoenix:
- A father has been arrested after his 5-year-old son was found at a busy Phoenix intersection. Police arrested Roberto Carl Alvarez Cervantes after he left his son at home alone for approximately four hours before he returned to the home. His son was found at the 19th and Wier avenues intersection. Cervantes has been booked at the Maricopa County jail on suspicion of child abuse-criminal negligence. (AZCentral.com)
- Phoenix police have located the body of a Phoenix mother that had been missing since Sunday; now, her boyfriend is facing charges related to her death. Irene Luevano, 37 years-of-age, was discovered a mile north of Interstate 10. Police found obvious signs of trauma on the body. (AZfamily.com)
- The City of Phoenix has won $1 million from the Global Mayors Challenge focused on urban innovations. Phoenix won the grant from its submission of a mobile career unit initiative designed to alleviate unemployment. The city is one of fifteen cities to win a million-dollar prize from the challenge.
