Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:
- Arizona's Family has declared a First Alert for sky-high temperatures this weekend in the Phoenix metro. The station is forecasting temperatures over 110 degrees for both today and tomorrow. Following Arizona Family's announcement, the National Weather Service announced an elevated heat risk yesterday afternoon. (Arizona's Family)
- Last week, the Phoenix City Council and Mayor Kate Gallego approved millions of dollars in community support funding. The revenue will go toward affordable housing, supports for the unsheltered and vulnerable of Phoenix, and arts and cultural organizations. "Today's actions are an investment in solutions for people and families," said Gallego in a press release. (KTAR.com)
- A Thursday night shooting near 35th and Dunlap Avenues has left one man injured. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Phoenix police. As of Friday, the suspect has not been arrested or publicly identified. (12news.com KPNX)
