- The driver of an SUV involved in a fatal crash on I-10 has been identified as a 19-year-old from Phoenix. According to police, Kevin Avila has been charged with first-degree homicide, endangerment, and aggravated assault. Three of the eight passengers inside the small SUV Avila was allegedly driving were killed in the head-on collision near Picacho Peak. Homeland Security Investigations is investigating a part of the case that may involve "attempted human smuggling activity." (KTAR.com)

A report released Thursday found that the western U.S. experienced noticeably worse air quality compared with the rest of the country from 2018 to 2020.
