2 Children Die After Drowning Incident: Buckeye Police

A two-year-old and a three-year-old have died after being found unresponsive in a pool with no safety fence, police say.

BUCKEYE, AZβ€”A two-year-old and a three-year-old have died after being found unresponsive in a pool with no safety fence, according to Buckeye police.

Officers and firefighters responded to a call Saturday morning that three children were unresponsive at a residential pool on West Hess Avenue. The children, ages one, two, and three, were all taken to the hospital; two of them were flown by helicopter and one was taken in an ambulance.

The two- and three-year-old have died, police said Monday. The one-year-old was expected to be okay.

Police said an adult male relative was home at the time of the incident, and that there was no safety fence around the pool. Police are still investigating what happened.
