New Matcha Cafe Coming To Phoenix From Owner Behind Popular Gilbert Shop

Latina-owned Matcha House plans an August debut in Phoenix, according to an announcement from the business.

PHOENIX, AZ — A new matcha-focused cafe is coming to Phoenix, bringing a familiar name from the Valley's specialty drink scene back with a fresh concept.

Matcha House, a Latina-owned cafe centered on matcha, coffee and community, is expected to open in Phoenix in August, according to an announcement from owner Rocio Sheyko.

The new cafe follows Sheyko's previous concept, Matcha Grove, which operated in Gilbert and built a following with matcha drinks, specialty coffee and gluten-free baked goods.

The cafe was located near McQueen and Elliot roads in a space that previously housed Muesliikon Green Cafe before closing a few years later.

At Matcha Grove, Sheyko focused on ceremonial-grade matcha sourced from Uji, Japan, along with a menu featuring items such as waffles, avocado toast and made-from-scratch baked goods that were gluten-free and refined sugar-free.

Now, Sheyko is bringing that community-focused approach to Phoenix with Matcha House.

"What started as a dream became so much more than a matcha shop, it became a place for connection, growth, and community," the business said in its announcement. "As one chapter comes to a close, another is just beginning. We're taking everything we've learned, every challenge we've overcome, and all the moments we've cherished into something new."

The announcement also thanked customers who supported Matcha Grove and helped shape the next phase of the business.

"To everyone who supported Matcha Grove, thank you," the business said. "Your encouragement, loyalty, and belief in us helped shape what comes next. The best is yet to come."

An exact Phoenix location and opening date have not yet been announced.
