PHOENIX, AZ — A Phoenix music institution is preparing for its final encore.
The Rhythm Room, the legendary roots and blues venue at 1019 E. Indian School Road, will close its doors for good on May 30, 2027, after more than three decades of concerts, community gatherings and performances from musicians around the world.
Owner Bob Corritore announced the closure, saying he plans to retire and move into a new chapter of life. Corritore, who turns 70 this year, has operated the club since it opened in 1991 and said he is ready for a slower pace after decades of running one of Phoenix's most recognizable music venues.
The club will reopen in late August following a temporary closure, but instead of marking a new beginning, the return will launch the Rhythm Room's final season.
The farewell run will take place from Aug. 27, 2026, through May 30, 2027, with Corritore promising a lineup of shows celebrating the venue's history and the musicians who helped shape its legacy.
Over the years, the Rhythm Room became a destination for blues and roots music fans, hosting thousands of performances and welcoming national touring acts. Corritore said the venue also became a place where lasting friendships, recordings and collaborations were created, including projects that reached audiences around the world.
Corritore credited the musicians, promoters, booking agents and longtime employees who helped build the club's reputation, including current manager Lynsey Curtis, who has worked at the venue for more than 20 years.
While Corritore is stepping away from running the club, he said he isn't leaving music behind. He plans to continue performing with his band, recording and releasing music, promoting shows and hosting his blues radio program.
The Rhythm Room has been recognized as one of Phoenix's top music venues, including being named Phoenix New Times' "Best Club for Blues" in its 2003 "Best of Phoenix" awards.
Corritore said he hopes fans will join him during the final season to celebrate the venue's history before the Rhythm Room hosts its last show and closes permanently.
