1. 3 Hikers Rescued From Phoenix Mountains As Extreme Heat Grips Valley (patch.com) — Phoenix firefighters carried out three separate rescues on Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak as extreme heat pushed one hiker into critical condition with severe heat illness. City officials are enforcing daytime closures on popular Phoenix trails and strongly discouraging hiking during peak heat hours, urging residents to know conditions, carry water and turn back early to stay safe.
2. Phoenix, AZ: Julie Louinord Missing Since November 2024, Family Asks For Help (theunionstar.com) — Phoenix police and a worried family are again asking residents for help finding 40-year-old Julie Louinord, who disappeared after leaving her brother's Phoenix home on foot in November 2024. The case remains open with the Phoenix Police Missing Persons Unit, and a national nonprofit is circulating her information as relatives hope renewed attention in the city brings in new tips.
3. South Phoenix advocate merging basketball with behavioral health inside juvenile detention center (abc15.com) — Inside Phoenix's Durango Juvenile Detention Facility, a south Phoenix advocate is using basketball and behavioral health lessons to help incarcerated teens reset their lives.
