PHOENIX, AZ — A crash closed both directions of U.S. 60, also known as Grand Avenue, near Encanto Boulevard during Wednesday morning's commute, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The closure is due to a crash at milepost 161 near Encanto Boulevard, ADOT said.
ADOT first reported the closure around 8 a.m. Aug. 19, while AZ511 indicated the crash may have occurred as early as 7 a.m.
Both directions of the highway remained closed as of 10 a.m., with no estimated reopening time provided.
ADOT urged drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The closure could cause delays along one of central Phoenix's major east-west routes during the morning commute.
Details about the crash, including what caused it and how many vehicles were involved, were not immediately available.
Drivers can check AZ511 for the latest traffic conditions, including road closures and reopening updates. Information is available through the AZ511 website, the 511 Arizona app or by calling 511.
