Applied Hearing Solutions, a Phoenix audiology clinic led by internationally recognized audiologist and educator Dr. Cliff Olson, has been selected to receive early access to Oticon Reveal, the company's newly announced next‑generation hearing aid. The device, which succeeds Oticon Intent, introduces a dual‑AI system designed to improve how wearers hear and interact in everyday environments. The clinic is among a small group of practices nationwide chosen to evaluate Oticon Reveal ahead of its global public release in late August 2026.
The early access allows Applied Hearing Solutions to do a hands-on evaluation of the platform, including how the devices are programmed, fit and verified in a clinical setting, as the technology moves toward wider availability. Applied Hearing Solutions often receives new hearing technology ahead of other clinics, allowing the team to test, program and verify each device before it reaches patients, combining innovative technology with a premium level of clinical care.
"What makes the launch of Reveal so unique is the reason behind the technology," said Olson. "Oticon is trying to solve a very real problem, helping people understand speech while still preserving enough of the sound around them for the brain to make sense of the entire environment. With the devices in hand at Applied Hearing Solutions, we have begun evaluating whether this innovation translates into meaningful differences for patients."
According to Oticon, Reveal is described as the world's first dual AI system, with one AI system designed to identify and enhance speech, while a second is designed to preserve and balance contextual sounds such as music, environmental cues and activity in the surrounding space. The two work together in real time to keep speech clear without stripping away the sounds that help the brain interpret the environment. In addition, Reveal uses information about the acoustic environment, conversation activity and the user's head and body movement to personalize processing.
Hearing loss is personal for Olson, who was diagnosed with the condition in his right ear during Marine Corps boot camp before serving as a Scout Sniper and completing two combat tours in Iraq. That experience led him to pursue his doctorate in audiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he built the foundation for the evidence-based approach that shapes his practice today.
In 2017, he opened Applied Hearing Solutions after seeing how few clinics were following audiologic Best Practices and has since had people travel from across the country and world to seek the clinic's premium level of care.
Recognized for his expertise, Olson is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences and professional events. He is also the founder of the HearingUp Provider Network, a vetted international community of audiologists committed to connecting patients to clinics providing comprehensive hearing care. Through the Doctor Cliff, AuD YouTube channel, he has educated millions and become one of the most influential and recognized voices in hearing care worldwide, encouraging people to expect more from modern hearing healthcare.
Olson will continue to work closely with the Oticon team to share the findings of his independent assessments.
