In recognition of Digital Inclusion Week, gFiber is bringing awareness to its ongoing support of free digital skills workshops in Arizona through its partnerships with the nonprofit organizations Compudopt.
Through funding provided by gFiber, Arizona residents can participate in completely free tech education programs for youth, digital literacy and workforce development workshops led by Compudopt in collaboration with Mesa Public Library - Red Mountain Branch, Dress for Success Arizona, A New Leaf MesaCAN and Downtown Chandler Public Library.
Participants who complete eligible programs receive a refurbished laptop with two years of technical support at no cost, helping ensure they have the tools needed to continue learning, working and connecting online.
"We believe access to technology and digital skills can create new opportunities for individuals, families and communities," said Will Novak, Government and Community Affairs Manager at gFiber. "Through our partnerships with organizations like Compudopt and Dress for Success Arizona, we're helping ensure more Arizona residents have access to the training and resources they need to succeed in today's increasingly connected world."
The programs cover topics such as:
·Computer basics and device navigation
·Email creation and online communication
·Internet use and online safety
·Resume development and job search tools
·Everyday technology skills for education, healthcare and financial management
"We've seen how access to digital resources and training changes people's lives," said Michelle Kari, Compudopt Program Director. "Individuals from our community have pursued education, found meaningful employment and even used their newfound skills to create resources for others. We're proud to keep that ripple effect growing alongside gFiber."
For younger learners, Compudopt also offers engaging digital literacy experiences such as the "Build Your Own Game" workshop, where students learn foundational computer skills, basic coding concepts and hands-on game creation.
In total, the Compudopt and Dress for Success initiatives supported by gFiber are expected to reach over 400 participants in 2026.
By investing in community-based partners that provide hands-on technology training, gFiber is helping expand access to educational and workforce opportunities while working to close the digital divide for underserved populations.
For more information about available workshops, community members are encouraged to visit the participating partner organizations and local library websites.
