Arizona Teachers Urge: Wear Red For Ed In Protest Over Pay
A study by ASU last year determined the state's elementary teacher pay is lowest in the nation while high school teacher pay is 49th.

PHOENIX, AZ – Low pay has teachers in Arizona seeing red. On Wednesday, they will also be wearing red and are urging others to join them.
The protest – Red for Ed – was inspired by the teacher's strike in West Virginia.
One of the organizers, music teacher Noah Kervalis, says that the state's "teachers and schools deserve proper funding.

"If you are a teacher or school staff member, please join us and organize your local campus! If not, please join us in solidarity regardless!"
He says that they've already confirmed participation at more than 20 schools across the state.

A study last year by the Morrison Institute at Arizona State University found that – when adjusted for statewide cost of living, elementary school teacher pay in Arizona is the lowest in the nation while high school teacher pay is 50th.
