Here are the top 3 stories in Phoenix today:
- A Phoenix man was hit and killed by a car while crossing the street. Anthony Vasquez, 27 years of age, was struck on Saturday morning while walking across 48th Street and Indian School Road. Phoenix police officers report that the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene to answer questions and they are currently conducting an investigation; however, early information points to no speed and impairment being attributed to the accident. (Arizona's Family)
- Season for Sharing cultivates a love of reading in children at the Phoenix Public Libraries. Our public libraries have consistently been a safe harbor for families when schools are closed and the city is unbearably hot. Season of Sharing's fundraising campaign has gifted a $15,000 grant to the Phoenix Public Library to maintain the wonderful work they are doing for our community. (The Arizona Republic)
- A Phoenix area nonprofit is preparing for its second Black History Month mural project. The Shining Light Foundation is raising awareness for February's Black History Month by showcasing the history across the City's buildings. There are twenty two arists for this year's mural project and the paintings will celebrate trailblazers like Jack Johnson, Muhammad Ali, Simone Biles and the Phoenix Suns. The murals are estimated to be finished by Feb. 11, 2022. (Arizona's Family)
