Body Found Floating In Phoenix Grand Canal, Police Say

The man has not been identified, and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

PHOENIX, AZ — A man was found dead in the Grand Canal near 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road late Tuesday night, prompting a police and fire response.

Phoenix police and fire crews responded just before midnight after reports of a person floating face down in the canal. Officers located the man and determined he was dead.

According to reports, Phoenix Fire crew members arrived to find an adult male floating face down in the canal for an unknown amount of time and not moving.

The Phoenix Police Dive Team and Air Support Unit were called in to help retrieve the body.

Police said there are no signs of foul play. The man has not been identified.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is still working to determine the cause of death.
