Southwest Human Development’s Women’s Giving Collective hosts screening of Three (Extra)Ordinary Women, followed by Q&A with film protagonist and mental health expert
WHAT: A special screening of the feature documentary Three (Extra)Ordinary Women, followed by light refreshments and a post-film Q&A focused on courage, personal growth and resilience.
WHO: Pearlette Ramos, one of the film’s three protagonists (Afro Latina, community advocate), and Alison Steier, Ph.D., VP of Mental Health Services at Southwest Human Development, will lead the post-screening conversation.

About the Film
Three (Extra)Ordinary Women is a feature documentary following three middle-aged women of color—Taghrid (Terry), a Palestinian American; Pearlette, an Afro Latina; and Tammy, an African American—who bonded through friendship and a shared mission to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Each woman confronts the question, “What is my personal Kilimanjaro?” as they push past mainstream narratives and prove that women can do anything they set their minds to. The film offers a window into how they developed resilience through trauma, poverty and abuse, and continue to pursue goals that bring meaning and purpose to their lives and communities.
