The 2020 election is heating up in Arizona with plenty of candidates vying for office. While there is a huge emphasis on the presidential election, voters will also decide the outcome of local elections and determine who will fill state representative and senate seats.

Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

COVID-19. We need to make sure testing is ongoing and raise the unemployment benefit, provide housing and rental assistance, childcare assistance as well as paid family and medical leave.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am currently serving my third term, seeking my fourth term. I am a member in the minority caucus who has passed several pieces of legislation during my last three terms.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

As previously stated in the prior question, I have successfully passed legislation and worked with the majority caucus to champion legislation, adult-size changing tables.

What steps should state government take to bolster economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic for local businesses?

By providing our small businesses with more financial assistance.

How will you address the calls for racial justice and police reform?

The legislature needs legislation to address criminal justice reform which greatly impacts people of color. Legislation which places more accountability and transparency on our police as well as making sure bad police officers cannot work at any police departments in the US.

I introduce legislation which address issues for our Veterans and worker protections for all workers in the workplace.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am a progressive democrat who strongly supports women and the ERA.
