Delta Dental of Arizona Donates 1,000 Mouthguards to Arizona Organizations

Delta Dental of Arizona and its Foundation are pleased to announce the collective donation of 1,000 mouthguards to local schools and non-profit organizations in recent months to ensure local youth participating in their athletic programs have access to quality safety equipment. The donations, valued at more than $20,000, were made to several Title 1 schools and organizations including St. Vincent de Paul, Valleywise Health, Neighborhood Outreach Access to Health (NOAH), and AzDA Cares, among others.

“Mouth guards play a crucial role in preventing dental injuries during sports. If it’s a sport with a bat, ball, stick, or any high-contact activity, a quality mouth guard can protect against chipped or broken teeth, root and bone damage and even concussions,” said Dr. Heather Scheider, dental director at Delta Dental of Arizona.

According to the American Dental Association, athletes are 60 times more likely to suffer harm to their teeth when not wearing a mouth guard.
