Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:
- Authorities are investigating a bomb threat that took place in downtown Phoenix on Wednesday night. According to officials, police were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle near Arizona Center and cleared the area. One man was taken into custody; the vehicle is still under investigation as of Thursday. (KGUN 9 Tucson News)
- The Phoenix Zoo announced its newest resident: a 16-year-old male Bornean orangutan! Wgasac the orangutan, who previously lived in a Nebraska zoo, joined Phoenix's 17-year-old Rayma the Bornean orangutan. According to a release from the zoo, Wgasac "has been spending time getting used to his night house and getting acquainted with his new companion" since his April move. (KTAR.com)
- A new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that while inflation eased slightly in April for the United States, the most recent numbers available for Phoenix were not so positive. According to the report, prices in the Phoenix metro have risen 11 percent compared to April 2021, and 2.5 percent since February 2022. The largest increases since February were for rent, fuels/utilities, and various animal-based food products. (Phoenix Patch)

- Alternative rockers Smashing Pumpkins on Wednesday announced details of the band's 32-date fall North American tour, and it includes a stop in Phoenix. The "Spirits on Fire Tour" will stop at the Footprint Center on Nov. 18. (Phoenix Patch)
