Here are the top stories today in Phoenix:
- The Phoenix-based Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) presented its annual Economic Development Distinguished by Excellence (EDDE) Awards during its annual Spring Conference held in Tucson last week. The EDDE Awards honor the best economic development practices for individuals, organizations, and companies that have significantly contributed to the advancement of economic growth in the state. - A Phoenix nonprofit built on music is accepting new students. Rosie's House is a nonprofit bringing music to those that can't afford it. It's free to learn, and students don't have to pay to have an instrument loaned to them. There are over 500 students, that have learned all types of music using all types of instruments. - In 2021, the Opportunity Tree helped about 250 adults and children learn the skills they need to gain independence and employment. The group supports adults and youth with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The Opportunity Tree operates 22 group homes throughout Maricopa and Pinal County. (The Arizona Republic)
