Elite High School Basketball Showcase Comes to Phoenix

An elite high school basketball showcase is taking place in Phoenix this weekend.

The Grind Session, a winter circuit of high school basketball events featuring top boys and girls hoops prospects from across the U.S. and Canada, is hosting a three-day event at Dream City Christian (21000 N 75th Ave, Glendale, AZ) and AZ Compass (2020 N Arizona Ave UNIT 206, Chandler, AZ) from Friday through Sunday.

Ikenna Alozie, ESPN’s No. 11 prospect in the Class of 2026, headlines a field filled with future college and professional talent. The 6-foot-3 guard plays for Glendale’s Dream City Christian, one of 13 boys teams participating.

The showcase also features six girls teams, highlighted by Class of 2026 sensation and Team USA gold medalist Jacy Abii. The highly recruited guard stars for Legion Prep out of Texas.

Ten Arizona programs are competing in the showcase: AZ Compass (girls), AZ Compass Grind (boys), Bella Vista Prep (boys and girls), Dream City Christian (boys and girls), Eduprize Prep (boys), PHHoenix Prep (girls), PHHoenix Prep Grind (boys), and Taylor Made Prep (boys).

“The Grind Session has taken high school basketball to new heights, becoming the home and proving ground for the nation's best prospects and teams. College coaches are looking for players that are ready, seasoned and developed to play college basketball and our level of competition is just that,” said Grind Session co-founder and CEO Scott Waldrop. “We’re excited about bringing the action to Phoenix and look forward to an exciting weekend of elite prep basketball.”

To put into perspective how good the Grind Session is: the circuit has produced nearly 3,000 players who have gone on to play collegiate or professional basketball, including more than 20 first-round NBA draft picks. That list includes two recent NBA champions in Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, as well as Phoenix Suns players Bol Bol and TyTy Washington Jr.

Admission is $15/day. Children 6 and under are free.
