The City of Phoenix furthers financial transparency on the Open Data Portal with a relaunch of The Phoenix Checkbook, making it easier for the public to understand where it spends dollars. Enhanced features are very intuitive enabling the public user to access the Checkbook data with the ability to create interactive visualizations of charts, apply filters, search, and use data drill down capabilities. The Checkbook data is updated monthly and can be downloaded as a file.
The Information Technology Services – Open Data support team worked diligently with the Finance Department to achieve a goal of “moving beyond sharing vendor checkbook data to informing and engaging residents and businesses with interactive visualizations for city expenditures”. This change also reduces the administrative time and expenses related to fulfilling public records requests for financial information.
