Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:
- Metro Phoenix has reportedly experienced a significant increase in eviction filings. This is the highest rate that Maricopa has experienced in 13 years. In July, the county had 6,045 filings. Residents can sometimes evade eviction through rental assistance programs or court agreements. (KJZZ)
- A car crashed through an apartment unit near the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Peoria in Phoenix. The incident occurred on Wednesday while the unit's residents were sleeping. The car missed one of the resident's heads by just a foot. A sedan was sent through the apartment after it hit another vehicle. It is not clear if anyone was arrested during the incident. - Beans & Brews is expanding into the Phoenix area. The Utah-based coffeehouse has signed a development deal for three new locations in San Tan Valley and Queen Creek. The locations will be franchised by local owners. The chain is looking for buildings about 1,700 square feet in size with working drive-thru lanes. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
