Ex-Tempe High Schooler, Top Basketball Recruit, Headed To Duke

The 6-foot-11 Marvin Bagley III, is widely considered the top recruit of the 2018 recruiting class.

TEMPE, AZ — Marvin Bagley III, who started his high school career at Tempe Corona del Sol High School and later became a consensus top basketball recruit, committed to Duke in announcement on ESPN's "SportsCenter."

Bagley is eligible to play this season and immediately puts the Blue Devils in the running for a national championship. He made the announcement Monday night.

The 6-foot-11 Bagley is widely considered the top recruit of the 2018 recruiting class. Last month he petitioned the NCAA to reclassify him and become college eligible for the upcoming season. Bagley visited Duke and USC in July. UCLA was also in the mix. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts. Bagley eventually ended up at Southern California's Chatsworth Sierra Canyon High School. The long, athletic big man will likely be in the mix to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft when he leaves college.
