Free Meals For Kids At Phoenix Schools Ending This Week: What To Know

The school-based free meal program ends June 25, but community partner sites will continue offering free meals for children in July.

PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix Elementary School District #1’s free summer meal program is still serving kids at most of its school sites, but families only have a few more days to take advantage before the school-based portion ends.

The district is offering free breakfast and lunch through the Summer Food Service Program at eight school cafeterias. The program is open to all children 18 and younger, regardless of where they attend school, and no enrollment, application or registration is required.

Most sites are serving meals Monday through Thursday through June 25, including Bethune, Capitol, Herrera, Lowell and Magnet Traditional.

What Happens After This Week

Once the school-based program ends June 25, Phoenix #1 will not offer free meals for children at its campuses in July.

Families looking for continued access can turn to community partner sites instead, including Vernell Coleman, Eastlake Park, Harmon Park, Hayden Park and University Park. Several of those locations are expected to run through July 31.

For questions, families can contact Phoenix #1 Child Nutrition Services at 602-257-3743. More information on summer meal options is also available through the Arizona Food Bank Network Summer Meals Program.
