Injured Hiker Rescued From Piestewa Peak
The Phoenix Fire Department rescued a woman Sunday evening who injured her ankle about halfway up the mountain.
PHOENIX, AZ — The Phoenix Fire Department rescued a stranded hiker from Piestewa Peak Sunday night after she injured her ankle, according to the fire department.
The woman was about halfway up the mountain when she was injured, the fire department said in a Tweet. The department used a "big wheel" to get her safely down from the mountain.
A big wheel is a special kind of stretcher with a large wheel on the bottom that can roll over steep and rocky terrain.
