Jersey Mike's To Help Send Arizona Athletes To Special Olympics

ARIZONA —Jersey Mike's Subs announced Tuesday that it will be supporting the Special Olympics during its 12th Annual "Month of Giving" in March, including helping to send over 100 local Team Arizona athletes to the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games this summer in Orlando.

Jersey Mike's Subs is the Presenting Partner of the Special Olympics USA Games, which will be held June 5-12 in Orlando, and will be hosted by Disney.

The Special Olympics USA Games take place once every four years and bring together more than 5,500 athletes and coaches from all 50 states.

"We've been involved with Special Olympics since 1975, and it is an honor for Jersey Mike's to be the presenting partner of the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games," said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's founder and CEO. "We support the organization's mission to foster inclusivity and help its athletes shine on and off the field. I invite everyone to join us and celebrate our country's Special Olympics athletes during the 'Month of Giving.'"

In March, customers can make a donation at any of the 65 Jersey Mike's restaurants in Arizona to help the local athletes reach The Games, where they will compete in 19 sports, including track and field, gymnastics, swimming, tennis, basketball and flag football.

Then, on March 30, the campaign will conclude with Jersey Mike's national "Day of Giving," when local Jersey Mike's restaurants will donate 100 percent of the day's sales —whether in-store, online or through the app —to the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games and to local state sports programs that will be attending The Games.

Customers also can make donations through Jersey Mike's mobile app throughout the month.

This will be the first time in the history of Jersey Mike's "Month of Giving" that the company and its owners and operators have adopted a single cause.

According to Jersey Mike's, the company hopes to surpass last year's record-breaking "Month of Giving" totals, when it raised $15 million for charity. Since 2011, Jersey Mike's has raised more than $47 million during its annual "Month of Giving."
