Join FSL at the Family Caregiver Day at the Capitol on April 17

FSL (Foundation for Senior Living) is proudly teaming up with the Arizona Caregiver Coalition as a sponsor and supporter of the Family Caregiver Day at the Capitol. This annual event brings together caregivers, policy makers, advocates, community organizations, and more to raise awareness about caregiving issues and celebrate the countless caregivers across Arizona who are providing support for a loved one.

“Caregivers are the invisible backbone of our healthcare system,” said Kathrine Steele-Watson, Executive Director of the Arizona Caregiver Coalition. “By partnering with community organizations for the Family Caregiver Day at the Capitol, we’re ensuring that more caregivers have access to the tools and support they need to continue their selfless work without sacrificing their own well-being.”

This year’s Caregiver Day at the Capitol takes place on April 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be held at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza located at 1700 W. Washington St. Attendees will learn about the latest policy updates affecting family caregivers, hear from other caregivers, share their own stories, and learn how they can join the Caregiver Support Campaign.

“We are thrilled to be part of such an important day in the caregiving community,” said Tami Bohannon, president and CEO of FSL. “Every year, the Arizona Caregiver Coalition brings vital resources to Arizona’s caregivers, and it is our honor to support the Coalition’s mission by bringing additional resources and experience to the caregivers in attendance.”

Speakers are set to discuss findings from the Arizona Family Caregivers Action Plan such as building a streamlined system of caregiver support, current advocacy initiatives at the state and national level, and comprehensive caregiver education.

During the event, the Arizona Caregiver Coalition will present the David Besst Award to a surprise recipient for their ongoing commitment to advancing caregivers through advocacy and education. The David Besst Award is presented to individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to services, policy change, or research in family caregiving in Arizona.
