Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. School children and families in the South Phoenix area are living in fear after two BB gun attacks on children. The first incident occurred on Feb. 1 in which three siblings were shot with pellets while waiting for a bus near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road. A week later around the same time, another group of kids was shot at near Maxine O Bush Elementary School near 7th Street and Dobbins Road approximately three miles away from the first incident. The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the incidents and says it is unclear if they are related. (12news.com KPNX)
  2. On Tuesday, a Phoenix-based commercial real estate company called RED Development announced new details about the Paradise Valley Mall redevelopment project. The announcement included the project's new name and logo. The former Paradise Valley Mall closed last spring and demolition began last summer. Now, a new 100-plus acre mixed-use development is scheduled to rise in its place and its new name will be: PV. (Phoenix Patch)
  3. Many city services will be closed Monday, Feb. 21 in honor of President's Day. All Phoenix Public Library locations will be closed, along with the 27th Avenue and North Gateway Transfer Stations. However, trash and recycling will be collected as usual.
