Local Veteran Honored by Veterans of Foreign Wars for Continued Service
The VFW Still Serving Campaign Honors Veterans who Give Back in their Communities after the Military.
Brett Sampson is being honored in the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Still Serving campaign for continuing his commitment to service through hands-on volunteer work that supports veterans, first responders and local communities.
Based in Apache Junction, Sampson volunteers his time and skills to complete maintenance projects and custom painting and mural work for American Legion posts, VA hospitals, elementary schools and fire departments. His work helps improve shared spaces while bringing pride and visibility to the people who serve within them.
A member of VFW Post 1760, Sampson says his service today allows him to stay connected to the sense of purpose he found in uniform.

“Still Serving means showing up where help is needed,” Sampson said. “If my skills can make a difference for others, then that’s how I’ll keep serving.”
VFW launched the Still Serving initiative in 2020 to shine a light on veterans across the country who continue to make a difference in their communities after the military.
